What Variant Title King can do
Updates the product title on the storefront based on the selected variant
Variant Title King dynamically updates the product title on the product page whenever a customer selects a variant. Instead of showing the same static title regardless of what is selected, the title updates to reflect the specific variant the customer is viewing — giving them immediate clarity about what they are looking at and reducing the chances of wrong orders.
Lets you build a custom title template using dynamic variables
Merchants can create a fully custom title template using a set of dynamic variables. The template replaces the default theme title block on the product page and updates automatically based on the selected variant. The following variables are available to use in your template:
{product_title}— the main product name{variant_name}— the selected variant, for example color or size{option1},{option2},{option3}— individual variant options{SKU}— the Stock Keeping Unit of the selected variant{product_vendor}— the brand or supplier name{product_type}— the product category
A hyphen ( - ) is added between elements by default. If you would like to use a different separator, such as a pipe, slash, colon, or just a space, contact our support team and we will set it up for you.
Allows you to exclude specific options from the title
If you do not want certain options to appear in the title — for example, if you want to show Color but not Material — you can disable or uncheck those options in the App settings. Only the options you have enabled will be included when the title updates on the storefront.
Works on the collection page when used with Swatch King
Variant Title King can also update product titles on the collection page, but only when variants are being displayed using Swatch King — another app by StarApps. When both apps are installed and active together, the title on the collection page updates based on the variant swatch a customer interacts with, creating a consistent experience across both the collection and product pages.
What Variant Title King cannot do
It does not change product titles in the Shopify backend
Variant Title King works purely on the storefront. It does not modify, overwrite, or change your product titles in the Shopify admin in any way. Your product titles in the backend remain exactly as you have set them.
It does not work on the cart page
The title update only applies to the product page on the storefront. Once a product is added to the cart, the title displayed in the cart is the original Shopify product title and is not affected by Variant Title King.
It does not work on the collection page without Swatch King
Collection page title updates are only possible when Swatch King is installed and active on your store. If Swatch King is not installed, Variant Title King will not be able to update titles on the collection page.
It does not add custom attributes such as metafields or product tags The app only updates the visible product title on the storefront based on the selected variant and the template you have configured. It does not write to or read from any metafields, product tags, or other custom attributes in Shopify.
