Standard or Pro?

Standard covers everything most stores need to connect products and split them. Pro adds more room, more ways to group, and extra details on each swatch.

The approval screen shows a spending limit

When you choose a plan, Shopify asks you to approve the subscription. That screen says the app bills you for usage, up to a maximum every 30 days: $99.90 for Standard and $199.90 for Pro.

That maximum is not your price. It is a ceiling that covers every Shopify plan, set at the price for Shopify Plus. You are charged the price for your own Shopify plan, shown in the table above and on the plan card. Nothing is charged during your trial.

Your free trial

  • Both plans include a 30-day free trial with every feature of the plan you chose.

  • Standard and Pro share one trial. If you move from Standard to Pro during your trial, the days you have left carry over. You do not start a new 30 days.

  • If you are already paying for Standard, moving to Pro starts billing for Pro straight away.

  • When the trial ends, billing starts automatically. The Pricing page shows the date.

Started a trial without choosing a plan? If you clicked Start trial on the "Can't decide? We'll pick for you" banner, you are on a free Standard trial that has not been approved in Shopify yet. We email you halfway through and on the last day. Approve the charge before day 30 to keep the app running. If you do not, the app switches off and your swatches stop showing, but everything you set up is saved. Approve the charge at any time to bring it all back.

Is there a free plan?

Not for live stores. The "free plan" on our App Store listing is for Shopify Partner development stores, which can use SA Variants free once the partner has registered with us.

  • When a development store is handed over to a client and moves to a paid Shopify plan, the client has 7 days to choose a paid plan. There is no new free trial at that point. We send reminders during those 7 days. If no plan is chosen, the app switches off, and everything set up is saved.

  • If your store is on Shopify's own free trial, you can use Standard. Pro becomes available once you choose a Shopify plan.

Change or stop your plan

  • To upgrade, go to Pricing and click Upgrade plan on the Pro card. During a trial, Upgrade trial does the same. Shopify asks you to approve the new plan.

  • To compare or switch plans, click View all plans.

  • To stop paying, scroll to the bottom of Pricing and click Deactivate app. This stops billing and switches the app off. You will not be able to use the dashboard until you activate it again.
